Is A Network Marketing Home Party Worth It?

Is A Network Marketing Home Party Worth It?

Is building a network marketing business with a home party effective?

I want to provide some hopefully helpful information around this common network marketing practice.

Do you need to have a home party in order to be successful?

Or are there other things that you can do in order to achieve the results you are looking for?

I am going to explore the pros and cons of building your business with home parties.

I’m also going to share some of my experiences with building my business with and without home parties.

So can you build network marketing with a home party?

The short answer is yes.  I know this is true, because this is how I built my first network marketing business.

When I first started in the industry, my upline told me to choose 2 dates to invite friends and family to my house.

So this is exactly what I did.

I saw that people before me had results with building their business this way, so I wanted to follow in those footsteps.

So here are some things I did in order to have successful home parties.

The first thing I did was make sure to invite properly.

How I did this was actually calling people on the phone instead of simply text messaging them.

This was probably one of the hardest things I had to do.

Because text messaging is so much easier, I had to fight the urge every time to not just send a quick text and invite them.

The reason for actually calling someone is that you make someone feel more important.

By calling them, you make them feel like you really do want them there.

As a result, they are more likely to show up.

The second thing is to make sure your party is simple.

All too often, I would see distributors create elaborate parties with massive amounts of food or drink.

Someone that doesn’t have the same means or time as you, cannot always create an elaborate party.

As a result, prospects that come to your home party can feel as though they can’t do what you did.

If anyone ever feels like this, they are less likely to want to want to join your business.

We want our business to feel attainable to other people.

Finally, if you want to be successful with your home party, have testimonials.

People are naturally skeptical.

Especially in today’s world!

So if you want to overcome their skepticism, you are going to want to bring other people that can attest to how amazing the products or the business are.

What got me started in the industry was hearing the testimonials of other people that had been doing really well.

If it hadn’t been for that, I would probably not be here today writing this blog to you.

So make sure you have at least 1 or 2 people that can provide solid testimonials to back up any information that is presented at the meeting.

So that gives you a brief overview of how to have a successful party.

But what are the pros and cons of having a network marketing home party?

I don’t currently build my network marketing business with home parties.

I’m going to share the transition that took place in me to start building my business a different way.

But I also want you to hear what worked about doing home parties.

Especially if you are still in the mindset where you want to do them.

Pros Of Having A Home Party

Probably the biggest pro of having a network marketing home party is that you can meet and present to prospects face to face.

A prospect that is only slightly interested in what you have to offer, can easily be swayed towards buying your product or becoming a business builder at a home party.

It’s a high touch event.

They can hear the excitement in your voice, try a quick sample of your product, and experience first hand some of the culture in your network marketing business.

Humans are extremely social creatures.

And seeing all three of these things together at a home party, can entice them to make a quick decision to try what you have to offer.

It is also probably one of the fastest ways to get a new distributor up and running in their business.

The other thing that can happen is that if one person buys your product or joins your team, other people are more likely to follow suit.

Humans are also easily swayed by peer pressure.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this in action.

Maybe a person at a home party is kinda considering trying something from your network marketing business.

But… They don’t want to take the plunge right away.

Maybe they are skeptical and unsure, so they don’t take action right away.

If someone else in the room is ready to jump and either join the team or buy the product, it causes that doubt or fear to start to subside in your more skeptical person.

They watch the actions of the person that took quick decisive action and don’t want to feel left out.

FOMO (fear of missing out) is a very real thing, and can give you a massive edge in building your business.

Cons Of Having A Home Party

Now I’m slightly biased towards the cons of having a home party.

Mostly because I see a lot of the pitfalls that network marketers face when building their business this way.

So I’m going to do the best I can to simply present the facts.

But… Disclaimer, you may sense my total dislike for them along the way.

You’ve been warned!

There is no time freedom with home parties.

The reason I say this is because I lived this life.

If you don’t have a team and are having your own home parties, it is no big deal to have them once in a while.

It may actually be a nice change to have people over to your home.

The problem comes in when you start to build a large team.

You want to support your new team members along their journey.

And remember how I said earlier that you want to have testimonials for your home party?

As the upline, you can become the built in testimonial for your distributors.  It’s really great for them.

Here comes the problem.

You create a large team of distributors that have to have home parties.

And of course you want to support them along their journey.

What tends to happen is that you find yourself out at home parties nearly EVERY NIGHT of the week.

This is exactly where I found myself in my business.

Most network marketers are building their business alongside working a full time job.

I personally do anesthesia for a living.

I would work a full day at the hospital, come home, shower SUPER FAST, shove food in my face, and RACE out the door to a home party of someone on my team.

After doing this for some time, I realized that this was not the life I wanted to lead.

I felt like I was replacing my anesthesia J-O-B with a network marketing J-O-B.

It was awful, and not what I had imagined when I first joined the industry.

The real kicker is that I noticed that my upline was falling into the same trap.

I remember asking my upline when this crazy life would stop.

She didn’t really have an answer for me, because she was in the same trap.

The worst part was that we both had 6 figure businesses…

So I constantly questioned if this was truly the life I wanted to lead forever and EVER.

There is limited scalability when building with home parties.

What do I mean by this?

I actually had no idea what this meant when I first started in the industry.

It was not something that was fully explained the way it needed to be.

Which is quite sad.

Because at a certain point in a business owners journey, they need to ask themselves if what they are doing is scalable in order to reach the next level.

Here is what I mean by this.

You can only reach people that attend the home party.

What do you do with the other loads of people that either can’t make it or just don’t come?

With home parties, you cannot reach the masses of people that could be helped with your business or product.

When you start to actually scale your business, you can start to reach the exact people that are already interested in what you have to offer.  IN MASS!

Having a home party will limit you to connecting with ONLY people that show up to your event.  No one else.

So scaling to a bigger audience of people is impossible.

There is also limited leverage when building with home parties.

When you reach a certain point in your business, you want to be able to do things that no longer require you to be present.

You may be thinking to yourself, “Well of course you can eventually no longer have to be present at home parties.  You teach people to do exactly what you did and create duplication.”

And yes this can be true.  And I did reach this point in my business.

I did not have to be at every single home party.

BUT… What happens if part of your team starts to fall apart?

You now have to start picking up the slack in your team.

This is exactly what happened to me and a lot of network marketers.

You now have to dive into the portions of your business that are falling apart.

What was once leveraged by duplication, is no longer the case.

You can’t leverage your time if you have to be at a network marketing home party constantly.

What if instead of leveraging your time with teaching other team members to have effective home parties, you could leverage the internet and start reaching people in mass?

To connect with people that actually wanted to hear from you.

Would this be a game changer in your business?

To actually start targeting people that already wanted what you have to offer?

Would this save you time?

I know for me it did.

By taking my business to the internet, I was able to scale, leverage, target the right audience, and save myself time by not trying to persuade everyone that my business was amazing.

I don’t want everyone to join my business.

I want the RIGHT people to join my business.

And by targeting the right audience in the online space, I am able to attract the right person straight to me.

Having a home party is more like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping some of it sticks.

You don’t know if the people that show up really want to be there, or if they are just there for moral support.

This can turn into a total time waster.

So Is a Network Marketing Home Party Worth it?

I’m going to leave that up to you.

Maybe you love home parties.

Kudos to you!  We need people like you in this world.

For me, I wanted to leverage the internet to find the right people that already wanted what I have to offer.
