The Anti MLM Drama | The Myth About Network Marketing

The Anti MLM drama is a real thing because of the myth about network marketing going around.

I personally think that there are 3 reasons that MLM/network marketing has a bad name for itself.

The first is that so many reps misrepresent what network marketing is.

The second is that all you need is 3 people to build a massive business.

And finally, having a network marketing business is your very own business.

All 3 of these myths can keep people stuck and frustrated. And when their business doesn’t work, they get angry and quit.

So what might we do differently? Let’s talk about how attraction marketing can be a real game changer for anyone.

There is so much antiMLM drama happening in today’s world, and I believe it’s because there’s so many myths going on around network marketing and what it can do for you today.

I want to debunk some of those myths and talk about how network marketing can actually help you and get rid of some of this antiMLM drama today.

Well, my name is Karin Angelly from KarinAngelly.com. I teach and train network marketers how to build their businesses in the online space, and I really want to dive into all of this antiMLM drama.

I want to talk about where it came from and what we can do about it, because this is a fabulous industry if you really look deep into it.

Okay, so if you’re coming in live, do me a favor, let me know where you’re coming in from. If you’re coming in on the replay, let me know where you’re coming in from as well and drop a replay for me also because I want to connect with you and I want to chat.

Alright, unicorns. Let’s get into it. Let’s talk about all this antiMLM drama where it’s coming from And how we as network marketers, non network marketers, anyone in this world can deal with this network marketing industry because there’s really so much potential in it if you actually give it a chance.

OK, so I personally believe that a lot of the anti MLM drama actually comes from the amount of reps that misrepresent what the industry is about.

Okay, so many times I hear network marketers MLMer’s talk about how easy this industry is, Okay?

They talk about how basically like you, just gotta You just got to keep telling people and you’re gonna you’re gonna build your business like crazy. It’s gonna happen fast. It’s gonna happen overnight.

No business out there is like that. Okay, Every single business takes time. It takes work. It takes skill sets. It takes building over time. Okay, there is no business out there that you are, If you’ve never done it before, there is no business out there that you can join today and be so successful at it that you’re just done with everything. You’re just a millionaire overnight. There’s nothing like that.

Okay, you’re not winning the lottery, okay? You’re building a business. It’s totally different. Okay, so we’ve got to, We’ve got to remember that this is actually an industry.

It’s a business that takes time. It takes energy. It takes skill sets. So the reason I think that there’s so much antiMLM drama

out there right now is because there’s so many reps that are like, Oh, yeah, if you join this business, it’s gonna be so easy.

You’re gonna make money and they don’t talk about how difficult it can be sometimes, okay, any business out there is going to take a lot of mind work. It’s going to take a lot of personal development.

If you sat down with any person that built a business in today’s world, they would tell you it took them time to get where they were.

Okay, if you think about success as an iceberg, think about this for a minute. Let’s just imagine what an iceberg looks like.

There’s there’s only a portion of that iceberg that’s actually above water, right? Most of the iceberg is underneath the water.

This is how I want you to think of what success is and what building a business is. Okay, most of that iceberg most of the work actually happens in secret. Nobody sees it. You don’t see the behind the scenes work.

Think about people like Elon Musk or Walt Disney or, um, Steve Jobs. They put so much time and energy into their business, and we didn’t see what it took because it was underneath the water.

Okay, It was that piece of that iceberg that was underneath the water. We only saw the tip of the iceberg.

Okay, We only saw the piece of the top where they were successful. We didn’t see all the stuff that happened underneath. So think about that.

When you’re thinking about network marketing, it is a business. It does take some time. Okay? Takes some work. It takes some energy. Okay, So remember a lot of that anti MLM stuff is coming from people that think that this is a get rich quick scheme, and it is absolutely not a get rich quick scheme.

Okay, so think about that next time you think about what network marketing is and you hear any of those anti MLM things that are going on around.

Okay, the second thing that I think is causing a lot of that anti MLM drama is when you hear and this kind of goes hand in hand with the first one when you hear from reps or from leaders within network marketing that all you have to do and this is a very old school thing, but it’s still being taught.

Unfortunately, I know this is kind of what got me interested in network marketing. All you have to do is find three people and those people find three people, and then those people find three people, and then suddenly you have an amazing business.

That’s just not the case. Okay, No business is built like that, Okay, We have to remember that we have to continually be connecting with people about our business.

We have to continually be building a business in order for it to be successful. Okay, We have to be continually pouring into our business, introducing new people every single day in order to be successful.

And listen if that’s scary to you, if you’re thinking yourself, I don’t know enough people that I could be introducing new people every single day about my business. I want you to wait till the end because I have a little blueprint that can help you figure that out. Okay. So wait with me to the end. I’m gonna help you figure out how you can start attracting those leads and sales straight to you in your business. Okay.

So just having three that have three that have three that have three is not a successful way to build a business.

Okay, that’s one of the things that I think creates a lot of this anti MLM drama.

All right, The last thing that third thing that I think creates a lot of anti MLM drama is that there are so many people out there that think that my network marketing business is my business. OK, nobody can touch it. It’s only mine.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Okay, think about let let me give you an example right now, okay? Because

this actually helps you understand, in my opinion a

little bit more About what network marketing is. Okay,

You’re basically you and you join a network marketing company. You’re basically given the rights to share a product share of service, representing a company. Okay.

It’s kind of like a franchise. Okay, so a company like McDonald’s, it’s the exact same thing.

Alright, McDonald’s, a franchise owner of McDonald’s, said, Hey, I really like this product. I really like this business opportunity. I wanna have my own franchise of it. So we’re going to create this store in another town.

I’m gonna be the franchise owner. I am going to sell the product. I’m going to share the product because I think that more

and more people want this product, and I think it’s a great business opportunity for me to make some money

with.

This is super similar to how network marketing is set up, okay, but I want you to think about this for a second. It’s not just your own business, okay, a franchise owner of MacDonald’s can’t come in and say, Oh, I want to change the way we make our burgers.

Can’t do that right Like this is, this is the recipe. You follow the recipe. This is when she has been given. This is what you follow.

Okay, like it’s literally like cut and dry. This is the information for how to create our burgers. This is how we create our fries.

Now go out and sell it.

Sell that exact same product. It’s the same thing when it comes to network marketing.

Okay, so you’re a franchise owner, okay? You’ve been given the rights to share that product, that product that you most likely love.

Okay. But at any point, a network marketing company can come in and say we don’t like what you’ve been doing to share our product.

We don’t like how you’re doing things we don’t like. We don’t like whatever. Maybe you’ve decided you want to go to another network marketing company and you want to take your entire down line with you.

You’re network marketing company that you originally were with can now cut off your paycheck. Okay? Because they no longer they no longer like what you’re doing.

They don’t like that you’re taking business away from them. Okay, They have the right. Just like if I was a franchise owner of

McDonald’s. McDonald’s has the right to cut off my franchisor ownee license because I decided I wanted to sell something other than hamburgers at that establishment. Okay,

Same thing, exact samething. Okay, so we got to remember that we have our own business, but it’s more like we’re licensing our business. Okay, We’ve been given the opportunity to share a product and make some pretty amazing income. If we do it effectively, if we do it well, okay.

So, yes, it’s our own business, but at the same time, it’s kind of not okay, that company ultimately has rights to everything. So how do we get rid of some of this anti MLM drama of these three things that I just talked about? Okay, how do we get rid of some of this anti MLM drama so that we can actually build a business that we love and we can actually have leverage?

And if we decide we don’t want to be with a specific company anymore, we can easily move to another company and still build productively.

Still build happily, I believe attraction marketing within the network marketing industry is one of the best ways to protect yourself, protect the leverage that you’re building in your business and actually start attracting people to you.

So we’re solving the issue off having people come to us. So instead of just finding three people, we now can start attracting more and more people to us. We can now start building a business that we love. We can now actually start having more and more people coming to us, just like just like with McDonald’s.

Lots of people go to that establishment because they love McDonald’s. They see that brand okay, attraction Marketing is all about building a brand, having people see, recognize, know like and trust that brand and want to go buy products from there and be a part of that.

That’s exactly what attraction marketing can do for you and your network marketing business. You can actually learn to build a brand where you have people that are actually interested in connecting with you.

Okay, they already want what you’re what you’re dishing out. That’s the best part.

Somebody will go to a place like McDonald’s because they already want what they have to offer. It’s the exact same thing if you build your brand within network marketing, okay, and it starts to get rid of that anti MLM drama that we see a lot of times because we have now created a brand of know, like and trust on, we started attracting the exact right people to our brand, and we start to repel the people that don’t necessarily need to be there.

Okay, that’s the beauty of having a brand, because I personally I’m not a big fan of McDonald’s. I don’t love how how the product makes me feel, so I don’t eat it right. But there’s other people that absolutely love McDonald’s.

And so they go there every single day. That’s the beauty of a brand. And that’s what I want for you and your network marketing business and actually actually start attracting the right people to you.

And instead of just having the three, the three, the three, the three, you start just attracting tons and tons of people your way.

All right, So if you’re curious as to how you can get the exact blueprint for how you can start attracting leads, sales customers, business builders straight to you in your business, I actually have a link in the description where you can check out the attraction Marketing formula E book.

And start getting rid of some of this anti MLM drama and start actually building a business that you love and start having the right people in your business that want to grow a business with you that want to get to the top just like you do.

  2. Don’t base the anti MLM community off a couple of creators. MLM business model is still a pyramid scheme with products

    • Thank you for your thoughts. However, If you look up the definition of a pyramid scheme that’s actually impossible. Pyramid schemes do not have products attached. Many Network Marketing companies do have products attached. In this case, Network marketing is similar to having your own franchise of a company like McDonalds. Thanks for you input though. ????

  3. Hey Karin, I’ve been in and out of the network marketing industry for 30 years. The one factor that you failed to mention was the companies that inflated the prices of products, changed the comp plan, made inferior products. As far as attraction marketing, I agree that it is a branding formula and works. The one thing is that it’s a long game strategy. That’s not a good fit for someone who has their back against the wall and needs to make money now. Business strategies need to be adjusted based on the new person’s needs. I like the fact that you made me aware that companies can pull the plug if they don’t like how the distributor/associate is doing business. I’m going to keep that message in my head as I build my business. Thanks for making that clear again. You have a new subscriber now.

    • Hey there! Great to connect! ????

I personally feel as though entering any REAL business is a long game strategy. I think this might be another reason that people get so upset about network marketing. For true success at anything in life, it takes practice, work, and skill sets. No one can be awesome at it immediately. The ones that are, already have an audience in place. In fact, that was me. I did have quick success because I had an audience. That was until I hit a plateau in my business and needed to level up my skill sets. I discovered attraction marketing at that point.

That’s the reason I love attraction marketing so much. And in fact, there are some pretty solid and quick attraction marketing strategies that can be implemented. I teach my team short term and long term attraction marketing strategies as they grow in their business.

What I heard, as someone who is still a student of this industry studying what the “secrets of success” are to build a network marketing business is, is that you had an “online network”. And, in the physical world, that translates to “social network”, which is why our industry the name “network” in it. This has been an epiphany for me over the last few weeks. Good to connect with you as well. That’s what this industry is really about, making connections, building a network, online and off.

  4. Very unlikely to make a steady income. It’s possible but very unlikely because of the way the system is made. Without building a huge downline there is no real money to be made. You cannot maintain a rank without a team. The anti mlm movement prevented people from going into debt during the pandemic.

    • Thanks for your thoughts. But I have personally made a steady 6 figure income with this industry. And let me tell you, leveraged income is the bomb! It’s all about learning the skill sets necessary to build you business. Every single occupation has skill sets that needs to be learned. It’s no different with network marketing.

    • @Video Marketing Unicorn – Karin Angelly how about people underneath you? how much money do they make? how about 99% of those people involved in mlm? what about how people are sold the opportunity like? an awesome business opportunity to do some money on the side? even tho its not possible to make good money if you dont recruit massive amounts of people? normal businessess dont require you to recruit other people non stop to make money. if you work at mcdonalds you have a steady income(better than 99% of peoples in mlm btw) and it doesnt require you to recruit other people. and isnt it sketchy that you cant make a decent income with just selling the product. you NEED to recruit and sell your product to those you recruit. shady shady business.

The problem that most don’t understand is that network marketing takes time, energy, and the right skill sets. And you’re correct in saying that most people introduced to this industry are given a false understanding as to what it takes to build a business. It’s not easy. Nothing in life is always easy. But if you take the time to invest in yourself, you can learn exactly what you need to be successful. And that is exactly how life works in general. Learn the steps, do the steps, evaluate, make mistakes, fail, fail some more… and finally succeed. Sounds a lot like being an entrepreneur to me. I bet if you ask Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk what it took to be successful, they’d tell you the exact same thing.

It’s actually set up quit similarly to real estate. There are brokers and then agents. Most of those agents stink at real estate. And let’s be honest…. It’s hard to make money consistently at real estate. But you keep working, testing, failing and then find success.

I also want to note that I know people that have made thousands of dollars with customers alone in network marketing. No team…. Just customers. I think it’s safe to say that thousands of dollars could change anyone’s life. IF they are willing to take the time to invest in themselves and learn the necessary skill sets to grow.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. 😊🦄
